We are Oklahoma citizens from the left and center of the political spectrum who want to make sure that our Oklahoma neighbors get the full picture of Senator McCain’s personal and political history, his voting record and his policy positions — the many varying positions he has held on many issues over the years.

All this information is part of the public record, but is not frequently part of the media’s coverage of the Arizona lawmaker, especially in Oklahoma. It has been said in jest that the media is John McCain’s “base” i.e. his most ardent supporters, but it is a serious matter when journalists let their personal feelings about a candidate get in the way of a fair and accurate record of their reporting.

All Americans respect and honor John McCain’s service to this country, and the ordeal he went through in Viet Nam. But military service does not in and of itself qualify one to be president. We believe that McCain’s entire history must be taken into account when voters go to the polls to select the next president.
